Q: In my process of healing and purging old emotions and patterns I was feeling depressed for 2 years. I am no longer in emotional pain or on antidepressants. I'm wondering how you know if you are still healing or if these changes are examples of the process being complete?
A: Certainly, not needing your medications anymore is a significant sign of healing progress. As is a reduction or disappearance in pain and symptoms. It's safe to say you are now feeling yourself having climbed the hill, through the worst of it, and are now sliding down the other side. As I like to say it sounds like you are now out of the shadows/darkness and into the sun/light. As you move forward you will continue to connect with and notice your strengthened self.
The measure of healing is in energy and feelings. There is no surefire way to affirm healing is complete. And one could argue we are never truly done healing as we are constantly working on ourselves and evolving. But in regards to a specific focus of healing such as yours, a sign that you have healed that piece is definitely rooted in how you feel. The elementals say, it sounds like you've been through a lot and it's important to recognize yourself for your commitment to healing, your courage and perseverance. Continue to affirm your progress by allowing yourself to celebrate. It sounds like there may be some fear around trusting the new feelings after having worked so hard through a long and difficult time. Don't let the fear creep in and say, 'What if?' But rather acknowledge yourself and treat yourself to something that shows self-love and self-care, like a massage or fresh flowers. You are safe to honour your progress and celebrate your advancement.
Remember that when we try to push our fear away it gains power over us. But when we face it head on, it loses its grip on us. The saying I use is: Entertain the worst to have the best. In other words, you have to acknowledge the fear before you can clear it and manifest the best. Don't worry that acknowledging your fear will pull you back, it will keep you moving forward. An exercise I love and recommend is to light a candle and call on your spirit guide. The flame burns away any lower energy from the words you'll speak. Speak your fears aloud, such as: 'I'm scared I'll get depressed again. I'm scared that I feel good but if I allow these good feelings, it'll be too good to be true' etc... Get all those lower-based suckers out of your system! And then affirm the truth: 'But in truth, I know I'm moving forward and up. I believe I will continue to feel better every single day. I know that the worst is behind me and whatever comes my way I've already proven to myself I can handle it. Spirit thank you for helping me to continue to feel my best.'
Trust me, you'll feel lighter and better instantly. When you truly address and shift something on a core root level, it doesn't need to resurface, it's forever transformed. The elementals say: Congratulations on your hard work and progress. You should be very proud of yourself. Move forward in your new light and safety, it's well deserved.
