Q: Should we all be vegan?
A: First, my apologies to whoever sent this question in as it's from a few months back but for some reason, I missed seeing it until now. Better late than never, I hope!
Anytime the word 'should' comes up in your vocabulary it's related to ego. For example, I should eat this, I should weigh this, I should call this person... Basically, it's your energy saying 'I don't want to but I feel obligated to.' A great practice is to catch yourself saying should and replace it with 'I want' or 'I choose.' When you say should it's a great moment of clarity to catch yourself in and recognize what is registering as authentic or inauthentic for you.
If you feel good being vegetarian or vegan, great! And if you don't, great! We are all exceptionally unique, what works for one doesn't work for another. The elementals say the one thing that is consistent for everyone is eating a healthy diet of whole foods. I have been to countless spiritual events over the years where people were shamed into eating vegetarian or vegan and it drove me crazy witnessing "spiritual teachers" pass judgment as they declared others not as spiritually advanced or pure if they consumed meat. Well, judging someone you don't know for their free will choice isn't all that spiritual either, is it? I'll take my meal without a side of judgment, please.
The elementals say, keep in mind when making a diet change it's never healthy to go from zero to sixty overnight. If you are going to make a significant diet and lifestyle change it's important you educate yourself and transition into it with knowledge and patience. I've been asked this question about veganism and spirituality a lot over the years. And the elementals always give the same answer: What we care about is how you treat the animals you eat while they are living. Are they being treated well? Are you showing gratitude and appreciation for their gift of sustenance? Giving thanks before a meal and praying over your food can be a healthy act of love.
The short answer is no, we shouldn't all be anything. The elementals are all for people rallying for the kind treatment and respect of animals. What they aren't for is people making choices from a place of fear and guilt as opposed to joy and well-being.
